Why seek counseling?

Many people seek counseling for a variety of concerns. It could be the loss of a loved one or divorce, or depression. Some seek counseling for help with addictions or simply needing someone to help deal with the challenges of living with ADHD. Whatever the reason, having courage to seek counseling can be a powerful and empowering experience.

There’s a common misconception that seeking counseling is a sign of weakness or it means that someone is “crazy”. Here at LMPCCC, we believe quite the opposite.

R. David Freeman, a bible professor, stated that in the bible the word “to help” (ezer) meant “to save or to be strong”. To me that is what seeking counseling is about. Helping people to be strong and overcome the challenges that come their way. It’s about finding your strength and emerging even stronger and more unique than before.
